Week 1
During Week 1 we were put into groups of 4 chosen by our teacher. Our first task was to analyse previously created GCSE short films on YouTube and judge them to give an estimated grade. This task also helped us generate ideas and expectations from a GCSE short film. After that, our next task was to plan a GCSE short film of our own based from the classic genre "Film Noir". Then we then decided to share our Film Noir opening pitches to our group mates and decide to choose the easiest to work with. Eventually, we chose Danish's pitch as he had the easiest and simplest storyline to work with. After, we then started to plan which props, location and actors that would be most suitable for our film and planned how we would gain access to them.
Week 2
On week 2, Nela and I decided to create the story board while Kevin and Danish wrote a script in which we would base our film opening on in order for us to be able to efficiently shoot our film opening as we would be much organised as we now have a frame to base our shooting progression upon instead of coming up with what to do as we go along which may cause a variety of unexpected issues and a incomplete narrative. We also decided to gather all our props and book scheduled access for our locations such as the office room to make sure we would be prepared for our first filming the following week.
Week 3
We started to gather all the props and costumes and we also showed our draft script to mr.Harkin. We got our feedback from him and he told us that we should incorporate more film noire conventions into our script such as the appropriate dialogue in film noir.
Week 4
We first started to film on this week. Which resulted to several issues such as people passing by during scenes, cars being in the background, actors forgetting their lines etc. which we immediately noticed after watching all of the footages.
Week 5
On week 5, we were prepared to shoot however we were very unfortunate as there was a bad weather. Therefore, We had to postpone our shooting and had to reschedule our shooting for another day.
Week 6
We finally began to shoot our film, without any disturbance. Which then Mr.Harkin said it was better then before. But he said there still some room for improvement. Therefore in week 7 we decided to shoot an extra scene.
Week 7
We gathered all the clips together and Danish edited all the clips into one film.
